The Sensory Movement Experience
Poughkeepsie, NY – The Poughkeepsie Galleria has recently partnered with Fit and Fun Playscapes to install sensory pathways and physical activities throughout the center, which is dubbed “The Sensory Movement Experience”. Pamela Gunther, the Founder and CEO of Fit and Fun Playscapes, describes The Sensory Motor Experience as “a series of colorful floor graphics that illustrate different movements which are specifically chosen to provide physical, sensory, social emotional, and health and wellness benefits”.
The Sensory Movement Experience is a free activity open to everyone, but has been strategically placed throughout the Poughkeepsie Galleria, based on traffic volumes, lighting, and audio levels, to accommodate for individuals with Sensory Processing Disorder, SPD. “We use evidenced-based movement concepts to create activities that engage people of all ages and abilities”, says Gunther. Some of the activities include leap frogs, hopscotch, balancing walks, yoga poses, fitness stations, and more!
According to Gunther, “There is something for everyone here at The Sensory Movement Experience”, which is why all are encouraged to attend the grand opening on July 11th at 1pm, on the lower level in the DSW/Regal Cinemas hallway. The grand opening will take place directly after the first Tykes Tuesday event, and there will be prizes from both the Poughkeepsie Galleria and Fit and Fun Playscapes (while supplies last).
